Gronkowski, who used to play in the National Football League (NFL) for New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and won four Super Bowls in his career, joins other celebrity investors for the brand which include fellow football player Travis Kelce, actress Eiza González and golfer Brooks Koepka.

Gronkowski’s investment in the brand has not been disclosed.

He said: “Lance Collins [founder] and Casa Azul recognised the need to create top-notch products with a commitment to excellence and I’m proud to invest in a brand that embodies innovation and integrity in the Tequila industry.

“I’m all about enjoying life and having a great time, and Casa Azul is the perfect drink to do just that. I’m thrilled to be part of this incredible team and to bring these amazing new flavours from the Playa Pack to our fans.”

Gronkowski’s investment coincides with the launch of a new ‘Playa Pack’ from the brand. The pack features eight canned Tequila and sodas with two expressions each for four flavours: Pineapple Coconut, Spicy Margarita, Lime, and Grapefruit.

The ready-to-drink (RTD) cocktails are made with Tequila, sparkling water, natural fruit flavours and a hint of agave nectar. They have 100 calories per can and an ABV of 5%.

Dennis Carr, who was appointed CEO of Casa Azul in February, added: “We’re honoured to welcome Rob Gronkowski as an investor with Casa Azul. His passion for quality products aligns perfectly with Casa Azul’s values, and we’re excited to have him on board.

“His partnership complements our introduction of the Pineapple Coconut and Spicy Margarita flavours as part of The Playa Pack. The Pineapple Coconut flavour offers a delightful fusion of tropical sweetness, while the Spicy Margarita delivers a great kick of heat.”

The Playpack is available nationwide in the US for an SRP for US$20 at Total Wine & More, BevMo, ABC Fine Wine & Spirits, Walmart, Whole Foods, Jewel-Osco and Spec’s stores.

In other celebrity-related RTD news, we recently spoke to Mike Novy, the president and chief operating officer of Sprinter, about the Kylie Jenner-founded brand’s aim to become a top-five spirit-based RTD brand in the US over the next five years.
