Duncan McFadzean, an investment banker for the drinks industry, and Jane Grier, a financial and regulatory expert, have joined Proofworks’ board as non-executive members.

Grier is a regulatory compliance and financial crime veteran with more than 30 years in the banking sector. She has held senior roles at Bank of America, Deutsche Bank, Credit Suisse and Barclays.

“Proofworks’ commitment to bringing greater regulatory compliance and transparency will be nothing short of transformational for the spirits sector, and I’m excited to join the team at this pivotal point,” said Grier.

“With the lack of regulation in cask investment, a nervousness among collectors that the casks and bottles being sold are authentic, not to mention the volume of counterfeit spirits in the market, the need for Proofworks’ solutions is very apparent.

“I look forward to working with the team to introduce new levels of compliance in the sector and ultimately foster greater trust and traceability, which will benefit everyone.”

McFadzean currently serves as managing director at corporate finance advisory boutique Noble & Co. Over the past decade, he has led whisky transactions.

“The spirits sector is at an important juncture. Having advised both technology companies and the spirits industry over many years, I understand all too well how crucial it is that a transformational technology solution, like the Proofworks platform, is deployed by distilleries and brands looking to future-proof their business. It will provide a necessary competitive edge,” said McFadzean.

“I’m excited to join the Proofworks’ board at this time and believe the business is well positioned to be a leader in this space and fulfil its goal of transforming the industry for the better through digitalisation.”

Grier and McFadzean will work closely with Proofworks’ CEO Rob Hollands, who joined in September 2023, and the broader leadership team as they aim to implement the company’s ambitious growth strategy and facilitate its ongoing expansion in the UK, Europe, Asia and the US.
