Proofworks digitalises spirits supply chain
London-based Proofworks has launched a platform with a suite of digital products to bring efficiency and transparency to the spirits sector.
The company has launched with a proprietary SaaS solution to offer aids to digitalise the spirits supply chain, from production, maturation and bottling to customer engagement and digital ownership.
The platform, powered by Web3 and blockchain technologies, offers product optimisation, tracking and transparency at every stage of the journey while prioritising consumer experience.
With deployments already in place in Scottish, Irish and American distilleries and warehouses, the company is experiencing ‘significant demand’.
Proofworks also plans to continue expanding in the UK, Asia, and the US and will release new features and services over the coming months.
The new features include CaskPassport and BottlePassport, which aim to directly address the challenges of investment fraud and counterfeits through digital deeds.
The company has strengthened its board with two key non-executive director hires: Jane Grier, a regulatory compliance and financial crime expert, and Duncan McFadzean, the managing director at Noble & Co.
“We approach this from a position of respect, knowledge and passion for the spirits industry, and with a proven track record in creating innovations that deliver. Proofworks’ launch signifies an important milestone in the digitalisation of the sector,” said Rob Hollands, CEO of Proofworks.
“We’re on a mission to help the industry discover and implement future technologies to solve genuine business and consumer challenges.
“The digital landscape as we know it is at a point of significant change, and we’re laying the foundations for brands to unlock future opportunities.”
Proofworks was established in 2021 under Metacask, a Web3 marketplace for premium and rare spirits. Metacask will continue as a product in the Proofworks portfolio.
The company auctioned a 1991 Macallan cask in October 2021, which sold for US$2.3 million.
