Mount Gay partners with BA
By Lauren BowesCustomers on British Airways flights to Barbados can now enjoy rum from the island’s Mount Gay distillery while on board.
The airline is celebrating 70 years of flights to Barbados and has partnered with the domestic brand to celebrate.
Established in 1703, Mount Gay is the oldest running rum distillery in the world and celebrated its 320th anniversary with a limited edition rum last year.
Mount Gay’s managing director Antoine Couvreur said: “Mount Gay’s presence on British Airways flights is a testament to the shared values of quality, heritage, and excellence that both brands represent.
“As visitors embark on their journey to the birthplace of rum, they can now raise a glass and toast to the occasion with Barbados’ favourite rum, adding a touch of Mount Gay magic and Caribbean charm to their inflight experience.”
Mount Gay’s XO expression, which this year celebrates its 30th anniversary, will be served on British Airway’s First and Club World flights, with Eclipse available for World Traveller customers.
Earlier this year, Mount Gay created a navy-strength edition of Eclipse.
Mount Gay’s Trudiann Branker became the first female master blender in Barbados when she took over the role in 2019.
