By Nicola CarruthersThe organiser of Texas Rum Fest has unveiled the programme of seminars for the inaugural event, which will take place later this month.
The Rum Lab will host its first Texas Rum Fest on Saturday 16 March at 2627 Commerce Event Centre in Dallas.
According to the organiser, Texas is one of the top four markets for the rum industry in the US, selling more than 1.1 million nine-litre cases a year.

Other discussions will focus on transparency in the rum sector (4.45pm), and Haitian rum culture, which will be hosted by Rhum Barbancourt at 5.45pm.
The talks will be held by industry figures such as Adrienne Stoner, Ian Hoyles, Alexander Kong, Kiowa Bryan, Miriam Pacheco, Mitch Wilson, Thaïs Elie, and Greg Hill.
Attendees who purchase the VIP Rum Expert Grand Tasting ticket (US$85-US$95) will have admission to the event for the entire day (1.30pm-7pm), including premium-tasting access.
A trade session will also be offered from 2pm to 3.30pm, priced at US$45-US$55.
General admission tickets are also available (US$65-US$75), offering entry to the event from 4pm to 7pm.
The Rum Lab is also the organiser of Puerto Rican festival Taste of Rum, which will be held on 9 March.
The Rum Lab holds festivals in Miami, Dallas, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco annually.
It will also offer its first show in Europe in April.
