Skyy creates canned vodka and soda line
By Rupert HohwielerCampari Group-owned Skyy Vodka has launched two ready-to-drink (RTD) vodka and soda variants: Lemon & Elderflower and Lime & Mint.
The expressions mix Skyy’s quadruple-distilled vodka with soda water, and natural citrus and botanical flavours.
The serves are also gluten-free, vegan and have 90 calories per 355ml can, with a 4% ABV.
Mark Watson, senior category director at Campari America, said: “Since its inception, Skyy has been dedicated to crafting the most exquisite vodka possible. This commitment extends seamlessly to our carefully curated canned cocktails.
“Just like our founder, Maurice Kanbar, who spent years developing a proprietary distillation and filtration process to produce the smoothest tasting vodka he could find, we continue to take the necessary steps to perfect our products across the entire Skyy portfolio – from identifying the best tasting flavour combinations, to ensuring the effervescence of the soda in our RTDs is just right.
“We’re convinced this attention to detail has been worth the wait, and we’re excited for consumers to taste the difference in our new Skyy Vodka & Soda ready-to-drink cocktails now available in a convenient can.”
The brand said the vodka sodas have ‘fresh citrus zest and hints of aromatic botanicals’, along with a ‘crisp, refreshingly light and elevated taste’.
The RTDs are available in the US at select off-trade retailers in California, Florida and Texas, in packs of four cans with an SRP of US$11.
Last month, Campari Group released its 2023 financial results, which revealed Skyy sales were up by 1.5% on the previous year.
Other brands such as Smirnoff have also debuted vodka soda RTDs recently, while Keeping up with the Kardashians star Kylie Jenner created her own vodka soda RTD line called Sprinter.
Last September, we looked at why vodka is back in action – with premiumisation and new flavours driving the category’s growth.
