Cointreau and EcoSpirits debut branded dispensers
French orange liqueur Cointreau has created co-branded dispense systems with EcoSpirits.
Cointreau has teamed up with EcoSpirits to release its bespoke versions of the EcoTote and SmartPour dispense systems.
Adopting EcoSpirits’ EcoTote and SmartPour system is Rémy Cointreau’s latest endeavour as part of its ‘Sustainable Exception’ roadmap. The sustainability plan was announced in 2023 and promised to reduce the company’s glass bottle usage.
Augustin Depardon, managing director of Rémy Cointreau UK & Ireland, said: “Cointreau is an essential brand and a staple cocktail ingredient for our on-trade partners in the UK. This is a significant step in helping them reduce overall waste and promote the commitment to sustainability and eco-conscious practices.”
The systems will launch across The Alchemist’s London sites over the next few months, including St Martins Lane, Old Street, Aldgate, Canary Wharf, Battersea and Victoria, and will be available across all 23 UK venues by December 2024.
The SmartPour and EcoTote systems are forecast to remove 3,532kg of packaging waste over the next 12 months, and reduce the carbon footprint across The Alchemist bars by 76.7%.
Jenny McPhee, brand director at The Alchemist, said: “As a brand, we are constantly searching for ways to improve sustainable practices within the business, and it’s important that we work with suppliers who align with our goals.
“Ultimately, we would hope to see additional spirits brands using EcoTotes over the next few years.”
EcoSpirits is also expanding on its Forest Programme, where one tree is planted for each cycle of an EcoTote or SmartPour through its closed-loop network. It estimates that 1,680 trees will be planted as a result of the Cointreau and The Alchemist partnership.
