Secret Arts of Spirits ramps up production

French producer Secret Arts of Spirits is planning to open a new laboratory next month and double production of its coffee liqueur, Mochanera.

The Mochanera range comprises five coffee liqueurs

The company’s ambition is ‘to create unique products that break the mould of standardised spirits’.

It produces six brands; Dominican Republic rum El Libertad and a rum punch, Pongo; a collection of Armagnacs under the banner, ‘Endless’; a Cognac brand called Telesma with VS, VSOP, XO, and XXO variants; a range of rums named The 3 Monkeys Organisation, sourced from Panama, Trinidad, and Venezuela; and coffee liqueur Mochanera.

With Mochanera, the company is looking to boost its current production of 600 bottles per month, per variant, to 1,200 by the end of 2024.

There are five expressions in the range, each with an ABV of 24.5%, made with coffee tree honey and coffee grains from different countries around the world; Colombia, India, the Dominican Republic, Brazil and Peru.

The company said it wants to increase the production gradually – by 25% each quarter. It said that while it has the financial investment to make the increase immediately, it would rather opt for a gradual process to ‘retain quality while meeting growing demand’.

Secret Arts of Spirits president Arthur Chakhoian said the new 200sqm laboratory “marks a significant step in our ability to innovate”.

“Designed for ‘prototype’ projects before their large-scale production launch, this new space will truly reflect our unique expertise,” he continued. “Moving from our current 45sqm laboratory to this new space, we will be better equipped to create our own elixirs, such as the ‘woody liquid’ and ‘coffee elixir’, essential to our distinctive recipes.

“This laboratory is a symbol of our commitment to excellence and innovation.”

Chakhoian added that the company is currently finishing the construction of the building and finalising the interior, and hopes to open the laboratory in March.

In addition, Secret Arts of Spirits has a new ageing cellar in the pipeline for February 2025 and it is also working with French sommelier Pascal Leonetti on a ‘unique’ whisky that will ‘bridge the worlds of wine and whisky’.

The company has been expanding its presence in numerous markets recently, including Belgium, Germany and Italy. It is currently in ongoing negotiations to enter Australia and New Zealand.
