Cedar Ridge names Murphy Quint master distiller

Murphy Quint has taken over the role of master distiller of Cedar Ridge Distillery from his father, Jeff Quint, who founded the Iowa-based site in 2005.

Cedar Ridge has also elevated Jamie Siefken to the role of president and general manager. Cedar Ridge is a privately-owned craft distillery based in Swisher, Iowa, which sits 11 miles south of Cedar Rapids. Founder and CEO Jeff Quint announced the new roles, which are effective immediately.

“Building Cedar Ridge with my wife Laurie has been the greatest achievement of my career. We’re proud we’ve been embraced by the local Iowa community and that our products have won over the taste buds of whiskey enthusiasts across the country,” Jeff Quint said.

“We’re especially proud our son Murphy will take over as the second-generation master distiller and know that the distillery is poised for continued growth under an experienced executive team being led by Jamie Siefken.”

Siefkin previously served as general manager and executive vice-president, growing Cedar Ridge’s distribution to 32 states through a partnership with Chopin Imports. As well, the brand’s Bourbon has become the best selling in its home state.

Cedar Ridge has been a key player in both the American craft whiskey movement and the formation of American single malt as an official whiskey style. In addition to its core range of whiskies, it also produces rum, vodka, brandy, and gin, and has partnered with heavy metal band Slipknot for a line of whiskies under the No. 9 label. Murphy Quint has expanded the portfolio in recent years, spearheading the core range and special projects.

“It’s an incredible honour to receive the title of master distiller,” Murphy Quint said. ”While this badge bears my name, it wouldn’t exist without the unwavering support and dedication of the entire Cedar Ridge operations team. Their passion fuels mine, and together we’ll write a bold new chapter in our whiskey legacy.”
