ABK6 Cognac reveals Lunar New Year release

Family-owned brand ABK6 Cognac has released a Cognac specially blended and designed for Chinese New Year.

ABK6 Cognac Year of the Dragon
Only 7,000 bottles are available in 16 markets

The VSOP expression comes in a red-and-gold bottle design to reflect the Year of the Dragon.

The bottle was created in collaboration with Chinese artists Qiaolong Huang and Bingna Xu.

“For this occasion, our cellar master Frederic David and I have specially selected our best eaux-de-vie recognised for their aromatic richness and aged in the oldest barrels of the estate,” said Francis Abecassis, founder of ABK6.

“A single estate Cognac of excellence, depending on its origin and the typicality of its terroir with all the richness and the strength of the dragon.”

The limited edition expression is ‘richly aromatic and woody’ on the nose, with ‘fruity and woody aromas, candied fruit and hazelnut’ on the palate.

Only 7,000 bottles are available in ABK6 Cognac’s domestic market of France as well as 15 countries worldwide.

The 40% ABV expression retails for €70 (US$76) for a 700ml bottle.

ABK6 prides itself on creating ‘single estate Cognac’, with each stage of production carried out on its estate, from cultivation of the vine to blending and bottling.

“We are convinced that blending eaux-de-vie from exceptional estates gives Cognac a typicality and an inimitable strength,” continued Abecassis.

“Deeply attached to the terroir, we have decided to produce distinct Cognacs according to their origin. Our philosophy can therefore be summed up in one expression: ‘single estate Cognac’. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you to our estates soon to share this passion with you through our exclusive Cognacs.”

The Abecassis family owns 380 hectares of vineyards and produces Cognacs under four brands: ABK6, Leyrat, Reviseur and Grands Domaines.

ABK6 is the latest Cognac brand to launch a release for the Year of the Dragon, joining D’Ussé, Martell, Courvoisier and Hennessy.
