Żubrówka upgrades black edition vodka

Polish brand Żubrówka has redesigned the packaging of Czarna, a premium wheat vodka made from the ‘highest-quality grains’.

The new bottles form part of the Discover Your Night Nature campaign

Its new packaging features gold ornaments against its transparent black bottle.

The brand claims that Żubrówka Czarna is the only vodka in Poland to be filtered using charcoal made from Białowieża oaks.

The 40% ABV expression has an RRP of PLN 40 (US$10) for a 500ml bottle.

The launch coincides with the release of another limited edition vodka, Żubrówka Gold, which is made from rye.

This expression has an ABV of 40% and an RRP of PLN 49.99 (US$13) for a 700ml bottle.

The two expressions are part of the vodka brand’s new marketing campaign, Discover Your Night Nature.

The campaign also features a competition, with consumers able to win a pre-paid card worth up to PLN 30,000 (US$7,511).

“The new gold elements that have appeared on the bottle give it a luxurious character and emphasise the uniqueness and belonging of Żubrówka Czarna (Black) to the super-premium vodka segment,” said Kamil Gębski, marketing director for vodkas at CEDC International (Maspex Group), which distributes Żubrówka.

“The limited version of Żubrówka Gold, based on rye spirit, expands the portfolio of pure Żubrówka vodkas, forming an unusual, elegant duo with Czarna.

“The unique bottles in the new version are ideal for special occasions, including gift-giving.”

In October, the brand introduced a range of flavoured vodkas.

In November 2021, Roust agreed to sell nine Polish vodka brands, including Żubrówka, to food firm Maspex in a deal valued at almost US$1 billion.

Żubrowka was the third-best-selling vodka in the world last year, according to The Brand Champions 2023 report.

Vodka is the most consumed spirit in the US, with 28.1 million nine-litre cases sold globally in 2022.
