Skellig Six18’s three-strong range is now available in Germany

Skellig Six18 Distillery opened in 2017 and offers a range of Irish spirits including a single pot still whiskey, a small-batch whiskey finished in Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks and a pot still gin.

Irish Whiskeys.de was founded by Mareike Spitzer in 2011 and specialises in Irish spirits from independent companies. The distributor will launch Skellig Six18 Distillery’s range through specialist retailers and restaurants in Germany, as well as selling directly to consumers through its website.

On Irish Whiskeys.de’s website, a 700ml bottle of Skellig Six18 Distillery’s gin retails for €34.90 (US$38), while its single pot still whiskey costs €47.90 (US$52) and the Sherry cask is €36.90 (US$40).

The Irish brand’s Triple Cask Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey secured a trio of Master medals in The Irish Whiskey Masters 2023.

Bottled at 43% ABV, the limited edition release is said to have aromas of nuts, caramel, wood and hints of camomile. The palate is described as having flavours of dried fruit, papaya, jalapeños, apples and a ‘whisper’ of smoke.

The brand is named after the 618 steps that were carved into Skellig Rock by monks during the sixth century. The steps were made to allow the monks to reach their monastery, which is now a Unesco world heritage site.
