The rise in popularity of the American whiskey category has much to do with Buffalo Trace Distillery, the longest continuously operating distillery in the US. Its history is rich and storied, and as the third-oldest distillery in the world, Buffalo Trace has earned its place as a truly iconic American whiskey brand.

Offering a portfolio of whiskeys that are sure to delight spirits lovers around the globe, Buffalo Trace Distillery announced earlier this year that it would be opening its first brand home place outside of the USA.

The experience is slated to open in early 2024, but in the meantime, Christmas is coming early for Bourbon lovers in Britain. On 1 December the Buffalo Trace Distillery London Christmas Shop opens its doors for three weeks. The pop-up store will help whiskey fans get into the festive spirit at 32-33 Long Acre in the bustling Covent Garden area of London.

A selection of the distillery’s most sought-after whiskeys will be available to purchase at the Christmas Shop, including Buffalo Trace, Buffalo Trace Bourbon Cream, Eagle Rare, and Sazerac Rye. But that’s not the only gift the brand will be offering fans this Christmas; the Buffalo Trace Distillery London Christmas Shop will see the exciting first release of Buffalo Trace Distillery London apparel and goods.

Furthermore, visitors will also be able to purchase commemorative London Buffalo Trace bottles, personalised Buffalo Trace Distillery leather collectables, Christmas-exclusive items, Christmas jumpers and hand-painted Buffalo Trace bottles inspired by iconic elements from London and the broader UK, designed by London artist Alice Nyong.

Official opening in 2024

Beyond the Christmas Shop, Buffalo Trace Distillery is set to ring in the new year with the opening of its dedicated brand shop and tasting experience – Buffalo Trace Distillery London – which will be situated at the same location as the Christmas pop-up store. The Buffalo Trace Distillery London experience will open in spring 2024 with the date to be announced in the new year. Bourbon novices and connoisseurs alike will have the chance to learn about the distillery’s brands through authentic experiences while tasting some of Buffalo Trace’s most iconic whiskeys at one of two breathtaking bars. Reservations will be required for the tasting experiences and there is a waitlist open on the Buffalo Trace Distillery London website for eager participants.

Having weathered Prohibition in the US, world wars, financial crashes and competition from global whisky categories, there is much to be admired about this fast-growing category. And, with that in mind, who better to lead the way than Buffalo Trace?
