Wilson & Morgan teams up with Milroy’s
By Lauren BowesIndependent bottler Wilson & Morgan has partnered with whisky retailer Milroy’s for a special bottling.
Caol Ila 2007 W&M460 is matured in refill Bourbon casks before undergoing a two-year finishing period in first-fill Bourbon casks.
Despite its finish, the 15-year-old expression is described as an ‘extremely textbook Islay malt’.
It has notes of ‘orchard fruit’, ‘lemon meringue pie’ and ‘gentle bonfire smoke’.
The whisky has an ABV of 48% and can be purchased exclusively from the Milroy’s of Soho store or website for an RRP of £85.95 (US$108).
The launch is expected to be the start of a longer partnership between the two brands.
Italian company Wilson & Morgan was founded in 1992 by Fabio Rossi, the third generation of a family working in wine and spirits.
Said to be the capital’s oldest whisky specialist retailer, Milroy’s opened its first shop on Greek Street in Soho in 1964 – where it remains to this day. The site also serves up mixed drinks at its ‘hidden’ basement bar, called The Vault.
In 2019, Milroy’s opened a second site in London’s Spitalfields, which closed this summer as the brand refocused investment in its flagship Soho venue and e-commerce.
