Tobago Gold founder named Entrepreneur of the Year

Lars Söderström, founder of rum-based cream liqueur Tobago Gold, was recognised at the Trinidad & Tobago Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Champions of Business Awards.

At the ceremony, the company was praised for its growth, strong commercial performance and the impact it has made in the wine and spirits industry since its inception in summer 2021.

The product was created in a kitchen in Arnos Vale, Tobago, and was inspired by the 500-year tradition of cocoa tea in the Caribbean.

Söderström, a certified chocolate maker, put his own spin on the traditional recipe by creating a chocolate rum cream liqueur, using high-quality cocoa, 100% Caribbean rum and spices.

The 17% ABV expression won Silver at The Liqueur Masters 2023 and Gold at The DB & SB Autumn Blind Tasting 2023.

The award was presented to Söderström at the official ceremony at the National Academy of Performing Arts in Port of Spain, Trinidad.

Tobago Gold Chocolate Rum Cream is now available in 18 countries.

Last year, the brand secured ‘substantial’ financial backing from two businessmen.
