Friarwood launches Per Se aperitivo in the UK

Wine merchant Friarwood will now import and distribute a new aperitivo as part of its expansion into premium spirits.

Friarwood Per Se Aperitivo bottle and glass
Per Se is produced in Portugal

Per Se blends 24 botanicals, with notes of cardamom, orange, Jamaican pepper and Portuguese hops.

The brand describes the drink, which is made in Portugal, as ‘the essence of Southern Europe in a glass’.

The aperitivo can be served on the rocks, mixed with tonic or served as a Spritz.

Per Se has an ABV of 14.5% and is exclusive to the UK. A 700ml has an RRP of £19.65 (US$24).

The aperitivo joins three other spirits brands in Friarwood’s portfolio: Tromba Tequila, Ron Carúpano rum and Sash & Fritz vodka.

Friarwood has operated in fine wine for more than 50 years and its managing director Ben Carfagnini recently talked to The Spirits Business about the brand’s intention to move into spirits.

“Every spirit we consider for our portfolio undergoes an evaluation for its unique character, heritage, story and quality,” Carfagnini explained in the interview.

Established in 1967, Friarwood is an importer, distributor, wholesaler and retailer of fine wine and spirits. It has two stores in London, in Parsons Green and Wimbledon Village.

Carfagnini bought the business in February 2015 following the death of founder Peter Bowen.
