The inaugural Sir Edmond Gin & Sound Pairing Competition took place in 2018 and was won by Allan Brown, who worked at the Breakaway Café in Rotterdam at the time.

The competition tasks bartenders with creating a cocktail inspired by a song ‘that moves them’.

Sir Edmond Gin sought to shake up the competition format by focusing on music as opposed to food and cocktail pairings.

The second edition of the contest returns this month, with a line-up of bartenders who work at leading bars across the Netherlands.

The final of the competition will be held on Monday 16 October at sky-high bar LuminAir, located in the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Amsterdam.

It will be judged by a panel that includes Alejandro Saravia, bar manager of LuminAir; Gianinni Statia, Sir Edmond’s activation manager; and Dave Mulder, owner of The Cocktail Agency.

The finalists are: Manolis Anastasiou (The Stockroom), Alina Lucia (Flying Dutchmen Cocktails), Troy Monegal (Paak Vinyl Bar), Xenne Akpotor (Ayla Rotterdam), Jonathan ‘Jono’ van Lamoen (Ultramarijn Den Haag), Danny Rijnvis (Deus Cantina Amsterdam), Alice Razzi (Law & Order), Geraldi Orlando Toatubun (Twentytwo Streetfood & Cocktailbar), Andre Montijn (The Peacock Bar), Yiannis Dionelis (LuminAir), Paolo Panetta (23rd Bar), Diego Rodriguez (Miry Mary), Stefan Sumual (Bar Feijoa), and Oliver Youngman (Cilinder).

In addition to the €1,000 cash prize, the winner will also receive a gold record.

Sir Edmond Gin recently launched two gift sets containing copa glasses and bar equipment.
