Lost Explorer hires UK brand ambassador
By Georgie CollinsThe Lost Explorer Mezcal has welcomed Alan Uresti Silva as its new UK brand ambassador.

Mexican-born Uresti Silva has joined the artisanal mezcal brand from London members’ club Annabels, where he curated the venue’s agave spirits selection which boasts more than 450 labels and expressions of Tequila and mezcal.
Uresti Silva said: “My time at Annabel’s provided a platform for me to champion my passion for agave spirits, and joining The Lost Explorer Mezcal is the natural next step in my career.
“I am not only broadening my professional horizons but also embarking on a personal journey that honours the traditions and legacy of Mexico.”
The Lost Explorer Mezcal is made using 100% agave from Valles Centrales, Oaxaca in Mexico.
The premium mezcal, which was launched in 2020, is said to be a toast to empowering sustainable Mexican enterprise while preserving the ancient artisanal craft, heritage and biodiversity of Mexico.
The brand’s portfolio comprises three expressions: Espadín, Tobalá and Salmiana, each of which have been developed to ‘inspire people to celebrate the earth, live curiously and to explore the wonders and diversity of the sacred agave plant’.
In October 2022 it was reported that The Lost Explorer Mezcal was on track to deliver volume growth of more than 1,000% in the UK, compared with the same period in 2021.
In spring this year, the brand launched a 200ml format of its three expressions to complement its core range of 700ml bottles.
At a seminar hosted at Bar Convent Brooklyn, which took place from 13-14 June, a distiller warned that the mezcal industry must avoid ‘irresponsible’ agave farming and wild harvesting to preserve the category’s future.
Earlier this year, Uresti Silva sat on the judging panel of The Rum & Cachaça Masters 2023 blind tasting.
