Diageo-owned Scotch brand Lagavulin has released a 15-year-old single malt whisky to mark this year’s Islay Jazz Festival.

The music festival, presented by Jazz Scotland and Islay Arts Association, will run from 15-19 September. The 2023 festival marks the 25th anniversary of the event.

Finished in oloroso Sherry casks, the limited edition 15-year-old whisky carries notes of dried fruit and walnut.

Jordan Paisley, Lagavulin distillery manager, said: “The Islay Jazz Festival is always a very exciting time for everyone on the island.

“This year, to celebrate the festival, we’ve created a unique expression of Lagavulin that’s been influenced by the thriving Spanish jazz scene, finishing our whisky in oloroso Sherry casks.

“The result is an exceptional bottling that introduces sweet, red fruity notes, which are beautifully matched to Lagavulin’s signature smoke. “

The exclusive bottling will only be available to buy from the Lagavulin Distillery on Islay, priced at £250 (US$314) per 700ml.

With an ABV of 53.9%, the whisky is limited to 3,000 bottles.

Lagavulin previously released a 22-year-old single malt to mark the 2020 Islay Jazz Festival.

In April, Diageo-owned Islay distilleries Lagavulin and Caol Ila created limited edition single malts to mark the 2023 Fèis Ìle festival, a nine-day music and whisky event on the Scottish island.
