Bowmore expands Timeless Series

Beam Suntory-owned Scotch whisky brand Bowmore has added a 29-year-old and a 33-year-old to its Timeless Series.

The launch is in collaboration with award-winning pianist, singer and composer Hania Rani.

The limited edition Bowmore Timeless 29 Year Old was created from a combination of Sherry-seasoned European oak casks and ex-Bourbon American oak barrels filled in 1991 and 1992.

It has a cask strength of 53.7% ABV and a flavour profile of dark fruits akin to Sherry-soaked raisins, cocoa, bitter orange, cherry blossom and liquorice. The immersion on the palate is ‘rich and layered’, with a depth of sweetness contrasted with peat and sea salt flavours.

Meanwhile, Bowmore Timeless 33 Year Old has an ABV of 45.5% and brings together ex-Bourbon American oak barrels, Matusalem Sherry-seasoned European oak butts and second-fill European oak Oloroso Sherry butts.

With sweet honey and jasmine notes on the nose, this whisky opens up to hints of menthol and eucalyptus and evolves to ripe orchard fruits with peat smoke to taste.

In 2021, Bowmore added two whiskies to the Timeless series: a 27-year-old single malt and a travel retail-exclusive 31-year-old whisky.

Calum Fraser, master blender, said: “We are pleased to introduce two very special and rare single malts as part of Bowmore Timeless Series, which we believe capture the essence of time beautifully and showcase how special aged Bowmore truly is.

“We purposefully strive for more character by harnessing the optimal conditions and protecting the precise processes used to ensure that we bring bold flavours to the front.

“Both the 29-year-old and 33-year-old are testament to the fact that our spirit ages like no other and keeps delivering breadth and depth of flavour as it matures.”

Each bottle is housed in an hourglassed-shaped black box. Inside, the bottle sits alongside an hourglass, which measures the recommended three minutes to enjoy the nose.

There are just 3,000 bottles of each whisky available worldwide, which will be available from October.

Bowmore Timeless 29 Year Old will retail at US$1,800 and the 33 Year Old at US$2,800.

In the UK, the 29-year-old expression will be sold by specialist retailers including The Whisky Shop, The Whisky Exchange and Master of Malt.
