The gin producer said the partnership will provide the brand with access to gin fans in the world’s seventh-largest and second-most populous country.

Citing Global Data, Sir Edmond noted that the spirits market in India is expected to increase by a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.2% from 2021 to 2026. The Dutch producer said this signalled a ‘promising next few years for gin’.

Sachin Abrol, co-founder and CEO of Delhi-based Amistad Spirits, said: “We are delighted that we will have the opportunity to present Sir Edmond, a unique product with an unusual character that sets itself apart from the other gins currently in the Indian market.

“It’s a high-quality product with a great story and awesome people behind it. We are certain that together we can make Sir Edmond Gin one of the most recognisable gin brands on the Indian market.”

Dominique Makatita, co-founder of Sir Edmond Gin, said the plan was to build the brand in Delhi, Chandigarh, Maharashtra, and Haryana in the first year.

Once the gin is established in these markets, the focus will be on areas such as Rajasthan, Goa, West Bengal and Uttarakhand.

Makatita added: “With Amistad’s extensive experience and network in the industry, we are confident that this partnership will replicate the success story we have seen so far in other markets as well.”

For every bottle of Sir Edmond Gin sold, a donation is made to the African Wildlife Foundation to support the charity’s efforts.

Volume sales of alcoholic beverages in India will see ‘rapid growth’ to 2027, according to IWSR Drinks Market Analysis.
