Salcombe Distilling bottles limoncello

English producer Salcombe Distilling Co has unveiled its latest seasonal small batch release: Victuallers Special Edition ‘Liquore Citrodora’ limoncello liqueur.

Salcombe’s limoncello liqueur is recommended served in a Ciao Bella cocktail

Handcrafted on the south Devon coast, Salcombe Distilling Co’s ‘Liquore Citrodora’ limoncello liqueur is made using a base of the distillery’s gin, which is created with botanicals including juniper, fresh lemon peel, and lemon balm picked from the head distiller’s garden.

The gin is then steeped with lemon verbena, chamomile flowers, and Szechuan and black peppercorns with fresh lemon peel, before being blended with soft Dartmoor water ready for bottling.

The result is a liqueur with bright sherbet lemon and subtle herbal flavours on the nose, with fresh zesty lemon on the palette and buttery background flavours of chamomile, giving a smooth mouthfeel alongside a refreshing layered citrus finish.

It is recommended served over plenty of ice, topped with Mediterranean tonic water and a slice of lemon, or a Ciao Bella cocktail, made with 25ml Salcombe Gin Rosé Sainte Marie, 15ml Knightor Rosé Vermouth, 15ml Victuallers Special Edition ‘Liquore Citrodora’, Fever-Tree Mediterranean tonic water and orange bitters, garnished with an orange slice and a sprig of thyme.

The 35% ABV liqueur is available in a 500ml bottle from salcombegin.com and Salcombe Distilling Co’s Victuallers flagship stores in Salcombe and Dartmouth.

It is sold for RRP £40 (US$52).

Victuallers Special Edition ‘Liquore Citrodora’ joins Salcombe Gin Start Point, Rosé Sainte Marie gin, the Voyager Series, Salcombe Rum, and New London Light non-alcoholic ‘spirits’ and apéritifs.

Earlier this month, fellow Devonshire-based Quayside Distillery released a trio of cello expressions.
