Betty Booze creates ad with Wrexham AFC
Actor Blake Lively’s ready-to-drink cocktail brand, Betty Booze, has enlisted Wrexham Association Football Club (AFC) players to star in an ad.
Pick your Play-vor features Wrexham AFC football players James Jones, Rob Lainton and Luke Young competing against one another to sell individual cases of Betty Booze’s three variants: Sparkling Bourbon with Apple Ginger Sour Cherry; Sparkling Tequila with Lemonade; and Sparkling Tequila with Lime Shiso.
The Betty Booze range was launched in June this year, and announced by Lively on her Instagram page.
The spot also displays three score counters, with Lainton ultimately winning the contest after selling 37 cases of the Bourbon-based cans.
Lively shared the video on her instagram page, writing “The World Cup… but a different kind of cup.”
The team, which is co-owned by Lively’s husband, Ryan Reynolds, is in Philadelphia, US, for a tour of friendly matches. Reynolds also has a stake in Diageo-owned Aviation Gin.
The canned cocktails all clock in at 4.5% ABV, and are crafted with sparkling water, real juice, and premium spirits.
The drinks contain no artificial flavours, colours or sweeteners.
The Sparkling Bourbon with Apple Ginger Sour Cherry is described as a ‘season-defying favourite’, and sees ‘sparkling’ Bourbon paired with the ‘crisp flavours’ of apple, a kick of ginger and a dash of sour cherry.
Created with premium Bourbon, tasting notes include caramel, marzipan, and rye spice, with sweet, tangy and earthy flavours.
The Sparkling Tequila with Lemonade has been infused with warm oak, a squeeze of orange and a dash of butter – the latter described as ‘the secret ingredient’ that gives the drink such ‘a special smoothness’.
Tasting notes include oak, vanilla, black pepper, as well as tart and silky flavours.
Finally, Sparkling Tequila with Lime Shiso is an ‘effervescent’ Tequila-based RTD, paired with notes of lime and shiso to create ‘something exquisitely refreshing’.
Lively first entered the drinks sector in September 2021 with the launch of tonic and mixer range Betty Buzz.
