Neurita creates Tequila for Margaritas

British brand Neurita has unveiled two Tequilas specifically formulated for mixing in Margaritas.

The Neurita Margarita is said to be sweet enough not to require triple sec

The UK-based brand says that Margaritas have often been an after-thought in the production of Tequila, and so it is on a mission to change that with the launch of its ‘modern take’ on the spirit.

“The idea to create Neurita was born from a very simple idea– my love of a well-mixed Marg,” said Lucy Smith, founder of Neurita.

“Like many people, they’re my go-to cocktail, whether it be for a night out or in with friends and family. But that spontaneous and vibrant characteristic of the classic Margarita didn’t seem to be represented in the key component –Tequila.

“When I looked at the Tequila category, I couldn’t find a brand that appealed to me – one that looked fun to drink, with great branding, but also delivered on taste. That’s when I decided to craft a Tequila that really captured the essence of what a Margarita is all about.”

Neurita is made with premium Tequila blanco that has been sourced from a leading undisclosed distillery in Jalisco, Mexico.

Neurita offers two expressions: Citrus and Rosa

The brand’s two expressions, Citrus and Rosa, have been crafted with high-quality blue agave, which is said to have provided the expressions with an ‘exceptionally smooth finish’, along with real fruit extracts and botanicals that have been used to ‘elevate’ both varieties.

Neurita is said to be ‘naturally sweet’, therefore omitting the need for triple sec in the creation of a classic Margarita. Instead, the brand’s recipe calls for 60ml of Neurita Citrus Tequila or Neurita Rosa Tequila, 40ml of fresh lime juice, and a dash of agave syrup, served in a salt-rimmed glass.

For a spicy twist, consumers should opt for the Citrus expression with a salt and chilli flake rim and a garnish of jalapeño.

The brand has also created the Neurita Margarita Spritz, which combines 60ml of the brand’s Citrus or Rosa Tequila with citrus soda water and a squeeze of fresh lime to create ‘a longer and deliciously refreshing’ drink.

The new expressions are available to purchase directly from the brand’s website, Master of Malt, Threshers, and Amazon for RRP £29.99 (US$37.39).

Last year, Stuzzi launched a gin created specifically for mixing in Negronis.
