Mezcal brand Desolas has created a cocktail that will be served at steakhouse chain Fogo de Chão in the US.

Desolas Mezcal was launched in 2020 by GG Mirvis, who has spent more than a decade working in the spirits industry and developed a passion for mezcal.

The brand’s Yellowbird cocktail will be on the menu at Fogo de Chão’s venues in California, Texas, Florida and New York.

The serve combines Desolas Mezcal, passion fruit, pineapple, Cointreau and La Marca Prosecco.

“We are pleased to be placed on a menu that flaunts a carefully curated cocktail list,” said Mirvis.

“The Fogo De Chão experience is unlike any other dining outing – we are honoured to be included as one of their newest options in their cocktail menu.

“This year has been a great success in our efforts to expand into new markets and having the support from Fogo De Chão felt like a natural fit that aligns well with our brand.”

Desolas is made using Salmiana agave grown in San Luis Potosi, Mexico.

The piñas are cooked in above-ground ovens known as ‘hornos’, instead of an underground pit, leading to an ‘agave-forward’ mezcal with ‘lower smoke’ levels.

The brand is available to buy online and in five US states: New York, Florida, Georgia, Texas and California.

Desolas Mezcal recently partnered with Florida-based bar and restaurant chain Tap 42 to offer two cocktails.
