Scarfes Bar launches anniversary menu

London-based Scarfes Bar has marked its 10th anniversary with the launch of a celebratory cocktail menu that reprises guest favourites from the last decade.

The new menu, called 10, is described as a homage to all that has made Scarfes Bar what it is today, and celebrates the bar’s characterful cocktails, resident musicians and caricatures, as well as the venue’s loyal guests.

Led by area director of bars Martin Siska and head of mixology Yann Bouvignies, the mixology team has created a selection of home-made cordials, ferments and distillates within the bar’s laboratory. These products have been used within all of the cocktails and menus at the bar.

The 10 menu promises to be Scarfes Bar’s most considered and exciting to date, and is said to be a culmination of finessed minimalism perfectly paired with innovative flavours using modern technologies to create exquisite drinks ingrained with layers and texture.

It features 10 cocktails that are dedicated to guests’ favourites from years gone by, and 10 new serves.

Included in the section of historic best-selling serves is the bar’s signature staple Crescent City, which is a tribute to New Orleans’ famed jazz music. Served straight from the freezer, this twist on a sour blends The Macallan 12-year-old with Discarded Banana Peel rum and pandan.

The section also features a favourite from the bar’s 2019 menu, which paid homage to rockstar David Bowie.

The Zingy Stardust is a delicate twist on a Gimlet, using Bombay Premier Cru, topped with muscat, kaffir, neroli and a ‘zingy’ orange dust sustainably sourced from the leftover orange zest accrued behind the bar playfully, mixed with popping candy.

To complement the returning favourites, the selection of 10 new serves includes the Oui Madame – a fun and bubbly cocktail with a tropical twist.

The cocktail is composed of Grey Goose, peach wine, jasmine, and clarified Sri Lankan coconut, served over flower-encased ice cubes, to create a decorative layered cocktail with tropical notes.

Meanwhile, the No.6 is a new playful take on an Old Fashioned, blended with The Lakes Whisky makers Reserve No. 6, chocolate, hazelnut, and sauternes to create a rich and complex cocktail with nutty undertones.

To mark the launch, Scarfes Bar has partnered with Equal Measures UK, and will add £1 (US$1.24) on to each bill to support the education and mentorship programme for the month of April, with further initiatives planned throughout the year.

Additionally, the bar’s namesake, British artist and caricaturist Gerald Scarfe, has created a special edition of his caricature commemorating the 10-year anniversary which adorns the wall outside the bar, located within Rosewood London.
