Cornell Iral Haynes Jr, known professionally as Nelly, has created the MoShine brand.

The brand name pays homage to the rapper’s hometown of St Louis in Missouri (MO), in the US. It was also inspired by Nelly’s love of hip-hop and country music.

It was created in partnership with North Carolina-based Piedmont Distillers, described as one of the world’s oldest legal moonshine producers.

The 30% ABV moonshine is available in two flavours: peach, and passion fruit.

“I’m taking a country tradition and mixing it up for everyone to enjoy,” said Nelly, known for hits such as Hot in Herre.

“A triple-distilled, corn-based moonshine developed in collaboration with the award-winning Piedmont Distillers, MoShine comes in two fresh flavours, including peach and passion fruit.

“At 60 proof, both spirits are smooth enough for shots and also pair well with a variety of mixers including lemon-lime soda, sweet tea, lemonade, and energy drinks.

“Where I come from, we work hard and play harder, and I want my fans to be able to reach for MoShine anytime they’re ready to get the party started.”

Nelly’s signature drink for the brand is The Fix, which combines the peach-flavoured MoShine with Red Bull.

MoShine is available in both 50ml and 750ml bottles across the US from spring 2023.

It can be pre-ordered from the brand’s website, with a 750ml bottle costing US$35.99 (excluding tax). A 12-pack of 50ml bottles is priced at US$41.99 (excluding tax).

The rapper revealed the brand at the WSWA Access Live event (2-5 April) in Florida, alongside actor Jason Momoa’s debut vodka brand, Meili.

Game of Thrones star Momoa was the keynote speaker for the Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America’s (WSWA) alcohol industry event last week.
