Italy’s first Lecce Cocktail Week announced
The south of Italy will host the inaugural Lecce Cocktail Week (LCW) in May, in a bid to showcase the Puglian city’s ‘vibrant’ bar scene.
The week-long celebration will feature a special LCW menu in each of the 32 confirmed participating bars, and will include cocktails at discounted prices ranging from €5-€8 (US$5.45-$8.72).
LCW founders Francesca Cullen and Rosie Lees said: “Having looked after a number of projects in Puglia and witnessed the evolution of tourism, we recognised the potential of the region and were inspired to launch Lecce Cocktail Week.
“As lovers of the beautiful and easily walkable city, we knew it would be the perfect location, especially with its stunning weather and an array of exceptional bars.”
LCW will take place from 15-21 May.
Bars confirmed for the celebrations include Laurus, Quanta Basta, 300 Mila, Al Baffo, Al Ventuno, and Palazzo BN.
Key sponsors for the week include Cadello, Lovem Compagnia dei Caraibi, Illegal Mezcal, Maison Ferrand Plantation Rum, J Rose Gin, Duck Dive Gin, Geco Gin and Linciano.
In addition to the bars, the event will feature a hidden 1930s-themed speakeasy called The Library, which overlooks Piazza Sant’Oronzo. Here, guests will enjoy live jazz music and cocktail specials.
Furthermore, each evening The Library will have its own sponsor for the night, ensuring guests have a unique experience each evening throughout the week.
Guests can also look forward to bar takeovers by Tony Pescatori, of London’s Alma by Sucre, and Italian bartender Bruno Vanzan.
Guests will be able to attend a range of events, masterclasses, and other unique experiences, making it a ‘must-attend event for bartenders and cocktail enthusiasts alike’.
There are a limited number of opportunities remaining for brands to get involved with Lecce Cocktail Week, and those interested should email francesca.cullen@nineteen-94.com.
Later this month, Barcelona will host the Bon Vivant cocktail experience, a festival taking a holistic approach to hospitality.
