Patrón sponsors Speed RackBy Nicola Carruthers
Bacardi-owned Tequila brand Patrón has partnered with all-female bartending competition Speed Rack for its 11th season, heading to cities across the US and Mexico.
Speed Rack’s season 11 kicked off in late 2022 in Atlanta and Mexico City, followed by Chicago in January 2023.
The competition will take place in Denver on 13 February, San Diego on 21 March and New York on 3 April, before culminating in the final in New Orleans on 23 July, during the Tales of the Cocktail festival.
Speed Rack was co-founded by bartenders Lynnette Marrero and Ivy Mix in 2011. The competition has since expanded to include womxn+ bartenders.
To date, the competition has raised and donated more than US$1.5 million to charities that support women.
Lauren Mote, global director of on-trade excellence for Patrón, said: “Speed Rack aligns with our Patrón Tequila brand DNA and our education platforms, not only in what it contributes to creating a sense of community within the bar industry, but also because of the cause it supports.
“Representing and empowering those womxn+ who strive to have opportunities and a stage to showcase their talent and determination is something we strongly feel about.
“As our Academia Patrón and Patrón Perfectionists programmes are stepping into an exciting new era to provide further educational opportunities for bartenders globally, we couldn’t be prouder of partnering with Speed Rack and give back to such a vast platform of bartenders around the world.”
Patrón is planning a series of bar takeovers across Scotland to celebrate the Margarita from February to March.
