Ferrand launches Chinese New Year Cognac
By Georgie CollinsMaison Ferrand has released a limited edition Premier Cru 10 Générations Cognac to celebrate the Year of the Rabbit.
The double-matured Premier Cru de Cognac is a tribute to 10 generations of the Ferrand family.
In a nod to the lucky number eight in Chinese culture, Ferrand 10 Générations Port Cask is bottled at 44% ABV (88% Proof) and has been packaged in a red and gold-detailed bottle.
Both the bottle and presentation box feature roots that depict the profiles of all 10 generations of the Ferrand family, as well as a ‘special guest’ to honour the Year of the Rabbit.
The liquid was double-matured, first aged French oak barrels, before a second maturation in Port barrels.
Its aroma starts with a pastry profile, with vanilla, caramel, almond, apricot and coconut, evolving to rose, orange blossom and nutmeg.
On the palate, the liquid is said to be rich, round and full, with a creamy texture reminiscent of white chocolate, along with hints of baked pear, vanilla, roasted chestnut, honey and cinnamon.
The long and creamy finish has notes of figs, plum, bergamot, nutmeg, liquorice and vanilla.
Each 750ml bottle has an RRP of £43.95 (US$54.28) and is available to purchase from Master of Malt.
Rémy-Martin has also launched a limited edition bottling and marketing campaign in homage to the Lunar New Year.
