Whisky Me subscription moves into gin

Dragons’ Den-backed whisky pouch subscription business Whisky Me has tapped into the gin market with a new premium monthly subscription club, Gin Me.

The 100ml pouches are available on a monthly rolling basis or as a 12-month subscription

Founded by drinks industry experts Thomas Aske and Tristan Stephenson, Whisky Me received a surge in members following a £75,000 (US$85,000) investment from three of the dragons – Deborah Meaden, Peter Jones and Tej Lalvani – in May 2021.

Now the pair has chosen to move into the gin sector by offering a 100ml pouch of premium gin each month from £7 (US$7.93), alongside a bottle subscription for £35 (US$39.65) a month.

Stephenson commented: “Our Whisky Me members have told us that they love trying premium drams each month that they might not have had access to otherwise.

“We recognise that gin has had a huge surge in popularity over the last decade and it is still growing, so we are excited to be launching Gin Me and sharing the world’s best craft gins every month in the simplest and most affordable way.”

In the lead up to Christmas, Gin Me will be offering six- and 12-month gift boxes that include a free pouch of gin and a redeemable gift card, or fully flexible digital gift subscriptions, starting from £7.95 (US$9) for one month, available up to 12 months.

Whether whisky or gin, the subscriptions are said to offer an insight into two of the most popular drinks categories in the UK.

Aske said: “Our mission is to get the world’s best gins onto the lips of as many ‘ginthusiasts’ as possible. We will be providing an approachable insight into how to sip or mix some incredible spirits and providing live tastings and cocktail-making classes.”
