Mataroa Gin teams up with Aegean
By Nicola CarruthersGreek brand Mataroa Mediterranean Dry Gin has partnered with local airline Aegean to host 10 bars at its airport lounges.
Aegean’s VIP lounges at the airports of Athens and Thessaloniki hosted 10 Greek bars for five weeks from 19 September to 25 October.
Bars Baba Au Rum, The Rumble in the Jungle, A for Athens, To Lokali and The Line hosted pop-ups at the lounge in Athens.
Meanwhile, Thessaloniki’s lounge saw Gorilla Bar SKG, Vogatsikou 3, The Blue Cup, Cin Cin and Tribeca, get involved.
The bars curated recipes for cocktails using Mataroa Mediterranean Dry Gin that travellers were able to enjoy before boarding their flight.
Mataroa is said to be the best-selling premium Greek gin.
Produced at the Melissanidi Distillery, it has been made with 12 botanicals, herbs and spices using a secret recipe. The gin was distilled and bottled in Greece, and made with ingredients from Mediterranean countries.
Since its launch three years ago, the brand has expanded its availability to 17 countries. The brand’s first line extension, Mataroa Pink, was released in November 2020.
Last month, Mataroa Mediterranean Dry Gin teamed up with designer Themis Zouganeli to create a limited edition bottle.
