Elephant Gin expands team
By Alice BrookerAfrica-inspired brand Elephant Gin has named James Le Grys as its new sales director.

Le Grys previously headed sales for UK brand Salcombe Gin, with the new hire taking place as part of Elephant Gin’s ‘ambitious plan for growth’.
Le Grys said: “To have the opportunity to work and sell exceptional gin, crafted with fantastic botanicals but with elephant conservation at its heart is a dream job for me.
“It is a very exciting time to join the team at Elephant Gin, with the construction of a new state-of-the-art distillery, new exciting new product development to launch and a desire to grow our global footprint into new markets.”
Elephant Gin was founded by Robin and Tessa Gerlach in 2013, and is headquartered in London and Berlin.
Le Grys added: “Robin and Tessa Gerlach have truly created an amazing business over the last 10 years and unlike other bands out there, they have actually delivered on their commitments to elephant conservation and have donated more €1 million.
“I look forward to the challenges of working globally; my overall desire is to establish Elephant Gin as the one of the best and most sustainable international luxury gin brands in the world.
“But most importantly, drive strong sales so we can support charities like the Big Life Project to help prevent the extinction of one of earth’s most majestic animals.”
The brand is said to be ‘gearing up’ for growth both across the UK and internationally, with a new distillery and its recently launched foundation – Elephant Gin Foundation.
Robin Gerlach added: “James could not have joined at a more exciting time. With the distillery, including the visitor centre, nearly finished we look forward to the next growth phase of the business and to strengthen and expand our existing distributor network.”
Earlier this month, the brand debuted a ready-to-drink Negroni cocktail, with 15% of proceeds donated to an African elephant conservation.
