Hysope gains €1.6m to expand
By Alice BrookerFrench mixer brand Hysope has raised €1.6 million (US$1.5m) with an aim to expand in Europe and renew its packaging.

The figure raised is ‘record breaking’ in the premium mixer sector, according to the tonic and ginger beer brand. It was raised in partnership with High Flyers Capital, a seed fund for food, and private investors.
Meriadec Buchmuller is the founder of Hysope, which was launched in 2019 to hotels and restaurants.
“I always knew that I wanted to launch a business around gastronomy,” Buchmuller said. “I wondered about the beverage market, which mainly offers sweetened products with additives that are not always good for our health.”
All the products in the brand’s range are 100% organic, and made without additives.
Buchmuller added: “Today, people want good, well-made and natural products. At Hysope, sourcing raw materials is the key. I have travelled all over France and the world to find our ingredients, assemble them and imagine recipes that I like and that correspond to market expectations.”
Today the brand is available to purchase from more than 1,000 points of sale, including wholesalers and restaurants.
Buchmuller added: “Hysope accompanies the premiumisation of spirits and aims to quickly become the leader in France and in the European top three. We are extremely ambitious in this sector. I am lucky to be in a fast-growing market where we can make a difference. The idea of this fundraising is really to create an iconic product, a flagship brand.”
Since the beginning of 2022, almost one million of the brand’s bottles have been sold.
Jérôme Rayet, partner at High Flyers Capital, said: “The non-alcoholic beverage market represents €5 billion [US$4.8bn] in France and is in hyper growth with an expected annual growth of 35%-40% by 2027.
“Meriadec Buchmuller wants to quickly become the French leader in this segment, and we will be able to help him thanks to our food ecosystem.”
