Silent Pool launches Transatlantic Rye Whiskey

UK distillery Silent Pool has unveiled Transatlantic Rye Whiskey, made with a combination of US and British rye.

The whisky has been designed to ‘go against the grain’

Silent Pool has ‘torn up the rule book’ to create Woodcutter’s Daughter Transatlantic Rye Whiskey, having used a combination of British and US distilling talent to bring an ‘exciting new taste experience’ to consumers.

The distillery has fused whisky traditions from both the Old and New World in order to make this ‘innovative’ blend.

The whisky has been inspired in equal part by the ‘essence’ of the Surrey Hills countryside and the ‘metropolitan dynamism’ of New York.

During the fermentation process, a period of no temperature control was utilised to contribute to the character of the whisky.

On either side of the Atlantic, two different distillation techniques were then employed, both using a continuous still and copper pot still to provide further innovation in the process. The whisky was then aged in new heavily-charred American oak barrels and French oak casks for three years.

The 46% ABV whisky offers complex, bright and floral top notes, combined with rich undertones and deep hints of vanilla to leave a lingering, satisfying sweetness delivering a rye ‘unlike any other’.

The limited run of 1,500 700ml bottles will be sold exclusively via the Silent Pool Distillers website from 1 August for RRP £65 (US$79). The whisky is available to pre-order now.

Last year, a complaint against Silent Pool’s CBD gin was upheld, due to its ‘indirect association’ with illicit drugs.
