Burna Boy, who won ‘Best World Music Album’ at last year’s Grammy Awards for his record Twice as Tall, has partnered with Havana Club as part of the brand’s endeavours to support artists and celebrate generational voices.

Traditional cultural headgear worn in South Nigeria inspired the limited edition Havana Club 7 bottle.

The bottle features tassels on the front label and a multi-coloured ‘aso oke’ background, which is a hand-woven cloth created by the Yoruba people of West Africa that often adorns gowns and hats worn to celebratory ceremonies, like weddings.

Burna Boy’s hand-written signature sits in the middle of the bottle, while a palm leaf crown decorates the brand’s logo. The bottom part of the label integrates the Rivers State region of Nigeria, where Burna Boy was born.

Burna Boy commented: “It takes a great person to overcome daily trials and tribulations, and an even greater person to intentionally decide that life is for living.

“As we share in the beauty of culture, community and heritage, let’s celebrate in united liberations.

“Please remember that you are a giant, today and always.”

The bottle will be available throughout the summer in 12 countries, including: Cuba, Germany, Spain, Greece, the Netherlands, Ireland and the UK.

Havana Club and Burna Boy have created a short film, narrated by the artist. It explores themes of conviviality and bonding values, from Lagos to London.

Earlier this year, Havana Club teamed up with rapper Frenna to create a limited edition bottle. Past collaborations have also included rapper Skepta.
