BCB welcomes ‘biggest year yet’

Trade show Bar Convent Brooklyn (BCB) saw its ‘biggest year yet’, with more than 3,800 attendees and 163 exhibitors.

The show was hosted in a new space – business park Industry City

BCB took place on 14 and 15 June, gathering members of the trade to its new home at business park Industry City

The new location is bigger than its previous site, the Brooklyn Expo Center, and allowed the show to expand its offerings and provide exhibitors with more space.

“We were so excited to welcome everyone to the show’s new home at Industry City,” said Jackie Williams, event director for Bar Convent Brooklyn. “As a result, we could offer more exhibitors for attendees. They could have unique experiences and discover craft and independent brands, including exclusive first looks at expressions that haven’t been released into the US market yet.”

With 300,000 drinks and spirits poured over the two days, the show is deemed to have grown ‘bigger than ever’. More than 50 new products were debuted, and visitors arrived from 42 US states and 55 countries.

Last year’s show in 2021 saw 3,000 attendees and 134 exhibitors present.

This year, BCB was focused on offsetting its footprint and reducing waste in partnership with Vermont-based Barr Hill Gin distillery, and Trees for the Future planting initiatives.

Transparency was a core theme of the event, particularly with sustainability in spirits distillation and in the creation of business models.

One seminar by Alex Francis, group director of Parisien Bar & Restaurant Group, spotlighted sustainability with his ‘farm to glass model’ scheme, and how this was brought to cocktail bar Little Red Door. The model explores goods sourced from local suppliers, and in turn how this boost the local economy.
