The premium Italian amaro invites global bartenders to showcase their talent in synergy with the brand.

Following a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, The Vero Bartender competition has returned with a concept that celebrates the joy of coming together.

“It is with great anticipation that we announce the third edition of our bartending competition, with a theme that celebrates the very meaning of our beloved industry,” said Amaro Montenegro’s global brand ambassador, Rudi Carraro.

The theme for 2022’s edition is ‘Sharing the Essence’, and calls for bartenders to create a sharing cocktail inspired by a metaphorical or physical journey or adventure.

A total of 10 UK finalists will be selected to make their cocktail creation in front of an esteemed live panel later this year.

The judges will include Carraro, spirits journalist Hamish Smith, previous competition winner Cristiana Pirinu of the Donovan Bar, and award-winning bartender and co-owner of Tayer + Elementary, Alex Kratena.

One winner will be selected to compete in the global final of The Vero Bartender in Italy.

The winning cocktail will capture a bartender’s unique skill in the art of creating moments of ‘meaningful togetherness’.

The Vero Bartender 2022 winner will be awarded a gift card for €6,000 (US$6,325) to be used to further their career journey via masterclasses, courses, educational trips, events, and professional bartending tools. Amaro Montenegro sees this investment in the career progression of the winner as ‘nurturing the future talent of the industry’.

“Through this unique contest, we are giving bartenders a spotlight to showcase their craft and refine what our profession is all about: real hospitality,” continued Carraro. “Every true bartender is dedicated to personal development and we’re overjoyed that this year’s prize will allow the winner to progress in their career in a way we can witness for years to come.”

Submissions to enter the competition should be made via the Amaro Montenegro website, where full entry requirements can be found.

Throughout June and July, Amaro Montenegro will also host a series of masterclasses across the UK at Hey Palu in Edinburgh, Manchester’s Science & Industry, Couch in Birmingham and London’s Tayer + Elementary.

Attendees at each masterclass will be welcomed with a Monte Tonic on arrival before an afternoon spent tasting Amaro Montenegro and a talk from Pirinu.
