Whistlepig unveils first UK cocktail competition

Rye whiskey producer Whistlepig has launched its inaugural cocktail competition for bartenders across the UK.

The cocktail competition is open to UK bartenders

The competition, called No History No Rules, challenges bartenders to create a cocktail with Whistlepig 10 Years Old whiskey.

Dan Priseman, Whistlepig’s UK and European brand steward, said: “We are very excited to be launching our first ever Whistlepig rye whiskey cocktail competition for the UK, and are hoping bartenders up and down the country will rip up the rule book and be as creative and trail-blazing as possible with their cocktail creations.”

Five regional heats will take place, in London, Scotland, northern and southern regions plus the midlands.

Priseman added: “In the true spirit of Whistlepig, we will be celebrating the most unusual and inspiring drinks that bartenders can come up with – nothing is off the table and the only limit is your imagination.”

The competition is being launched in partnership with Bar Life UK in an attempt to drive awareness of the opportunity to the bartending community. The top three scoring contenders will bag a VIP trip to Vermont, US, to visit the home of Whistlepig.

They will also be gifted with a special edition bottle from the distillery team while there. The final winner will receive a bottle of The Boss Hog VIII, a limited edition rye whiskey from the brand.

Entrants have until 15 May to submit their creations online, with the heats being held later in May.

The final will take place on 4 July in London. To find out more about the competition, visit

In December last year, the brand expanded its global presence in partnership with Moët Hennessy, launching a marketing drive in the UK and Europe.
