Three Wrens Distillery launches gin refill scheme
English gin producer Three Wrens Distillery is offering a bottle refill scheme to increase the sustainability of the business.
Customers will be able to refill their empty Three Wrens gin bottles directly at the distillery in Cheshire, UK. This will remove additional packaging.
Those who refill their bottles will benefit from a £5 (US$6.54) discount off the price of their gin.
Nick Wadeson, owner and distiller, said: “We’ve always been passionate about sustainability and using home-grown ingredients, but we wanted to go one step further and allow our customers to opt out of packaging entirely.
“Now those who enjoy Three Wrens gin can do so by coming directly to the source. It’s very important for us to be an environmentally conscious distillery.”
In other green moves, Three Wrens is also working with Ecologi to plant thousands of trees annually, to offset its carbon footprint. The producer achieved carbon-neutral status as a result of the scheme in 2021.
Furthermore, all Three Wrens orders are shipped without any plastic.
Several brands have moved to more eco-friendly packaging recently. In January this year, Scotland-based distillery Darnley’s unveiled recyclable gin pouches as part of its 2022 sustainability strategy.
Last year, Bombay Sapphire revealed ambitions to become the first gin made using entirely certified sustainable botanicals.
