Labrenta expands international presence

Italian closures manufacturer Labrenta has acquired Portugal-based Anacorks, which specialises in the production of cork stoppers for spirits.

Labrenta’s Ready To Go range of bottle caps offers 24 designs to choose from

The move marks Labrenta’s international expansion plan for its supply chain. The brand currently has production sites in Brazil, Mexico, and Italy, plus a commercial site in the US.

“We started to work with cork 51 years ago, but today more than ever we believe and know that cork is a sustainable and current material,” said Gianni Tagliapietra, Labrenta chief executive officer.

“We think that today’s trend sees the natural cork will increase its use, and it will be even more appreciated and used in the spirits market for premium products. For this reason Anacorks is a strategic acquisition.”

Anacorks currently has two production sites with 20 operators, and a third site will be added this summer to support its growth in Mexico, the US, the UK, South Africa and Singapore.

The acquisition aligns with Labrenta’s Green Deal 2030, a commitment by the brand to increase its use of sustainable materials and select product sites close to its customers to reduce carbon footprint.

The manufacturer also revealed its aim to exceed €30m (US$31.5m) turnover by the end of the year, with an ‘ambitious’ growth strategy for 2023-2025.

In the last year, the brand has increased by more than 50 employees in Italy, Brazil and Mexico, and it expects to hire another 20 workers to ‘strengthen the business units’ in the next year.
