Cordero will work with Silvia Santiago, the first female master blender in Puerto Rico. Santiago is a 45-year veteran of the family-owned distillery and serves as its senior vice-president of manufacturing and maestra ronera.

“The face of the spirits industry has evolved since I started working at the distillery and I am honoured to work with Liza and thrilled to see another female take the reins,” Santiago commented.

Cordero, born in San Juan, has worked for Destilería Serrallés for nearly 20 years, joining the distillery after pursuing a career in chemical engineering.

In her new role, Cordero will lead new product development and oversee the producer’s quality and flavour consistency in each step of the rum-making process.

“I am so proud to work for a company and produce a rum that is invested in our island, the environment and our future,” said Cordero.

“I am most excited to work with our talented team at Destilería Serrallés and continue innovating and finding new blends to share with all rum enthusiasts, from the novices to the connoisseurs.”
