Patchett joined the company’s sales team in 2017. He has been credited with contributing to the brand’s growth in on-trade distribution, particularly in premium and specialist cocktail bars in the UK.

He said: “I’m honoured to have the opportunity to represent our whisky and share our story in the global marketplace. It’s an exciting time for both our brand and the English whisky category as a whole and I feel very proud to be part of it.”

Patchett has been in the drinks industry for 23 years. During his career, he has spent time in Italy, France and Switzerland, and holds qualifications from the WSET and Guild of Master Sommeliers.

His appointment follows the recent announcement of the Cotswold Distillery’s whisky expansion plans.

The company is in the midst of establishing a new distillery for its whisky, which will make it the largest English whisky producer, generating 500,000 litres of alcohol per year.

Dan Szor, Cotswolds Distillery founder, added: “Rob possesses a deep-seated, in-depth knowledge of whisky and, with his natural and professional approach to presenting our portfolio, it made perfect sense for him to step into the whisky ambassador role for Cotswolds Distillery.

“Rob’s appointment marks the completion of the Cotswolds Distillery’s core whisky portfolio and we are excited to see Cotswolds Whisky take its next steps in the global market.”

Last month, Jeremy Parsons was appointed chief executive officer of the Cotswolds Distillery as part of the English producer’s expansion plans.
