Brother’s Bond launch Earth Day challenge

Bourbon brand Brother’s Bond, founded by Vampire Diaries stars Ian Somerholder and Paul Wesley, has launched an Instagram challenge, called #RemodelTheBottle.

Posting a video on his Instagram account, Somerholder unveiled the #RemodelTheBottle competition to mark Earth Day (22 April), challenging followers to repurpose their Brother’s Bond bottles in a “creative way”.

In the video, Somerholder said: “One of the best parts of launching Brothers Bond Bourbon has been seeing the amazing content and cocktails that you all have made, showing that you have been inspired by the brand – which truly just means the world to me.

“I’m going to challenge you all to remodel the bottle, meaning I’m asking you to do something creative with this vessel that we worked so, so hard on.”

Entrants are then requested to post pictures of their remodelled bottles onto their Instagram feeds, and tag @BrothersBondBourbon, @IanSomerhalder, @PaulWesley and include the hashtag #RemodelTheBottle.

Somerhalder said that he reuses his empty Brother’s Bond bottles for decanting the brand’s blends into, and as “time capsules”.

He explained: “I put cool little Brother’s Bond memories in it, and I store it away. In five or 10 years, I’ll open it and really get to re-live that stuff. It’s something fun to do with the family.”

It’s not the first time the brand has worked towards sustainable practices: in November last year, the brand founders donated US$50,000 to non-profit organisation Kiss the Ground, which seeks to reverse climate change through regenerative agriculture. The brand has also committed to using regeneratively farmed grain to craft its Bourbon.

Somerhalder added: “I’ll be looking at all your posts and revealing a winner by 22 May, who will receive a cool barware kit and a bunch of signed merch from Paul and myself. Let’s do this.”

Entrants must be 21 and over, and the competition is valid for US residents. Entries will close on 21 May, 12am PT.

The winner will be announced 22 May, at 10:30am PT.
