Zamora names new CEO
Licor 43 owner Zamora Company has appointed Javier Pijoan as its new CEO, succeeding Emilio Restoy.
The family-owned group has named Pijoan to succeed Emilio Restoy, who will take on a role on the company’s board of directors.
“I am proud to assume leadership of one of the international benchmark companies in the premium wines and spirits sector,” Pijoan commented.
“In line with its values as a sustainable company, I am grateful for the confidence of the family owners, and I take on the challenge with the aim of adding even more successes to the legacy they have achieved over three quarters of a century of work.”
Pijoan has more than 25 years experience in global beverage, food and distribution companies, including Heineken where he worked for more than 18 years. He also worked at spirits firm Bacardi in Iberia for three years.
Pijoan added: “I am convinced we will achieve our goals thanks to the fantastic team of professionals that the group has around the world, so that our consumers continue to enjoy every moment with our brands.”
The appointment follows the news of the company investing €6.7 million (US$7.8m) in its Conscious Company strategic plan for 2020-2022. Zamora aims to align with the ‘sustainable development goals’ of the United Nations’ 2030 agenda with the plan, which is in keeping with three key points of action: commitment to the planet, empowerment of employees and shared values with the local community.
Chairman José María de Santiago said: “We’re ready for our next step, and this is going to focus on growing our international and digital presence, things we initiated a couple of years ago.
“We are taking a commitment to professional executive management, while the family will continue to look after the interests of the group from the board of directors – just as it has done throughout our 75-year history.”
