The Blend is an online global community launched by Beam Suntory, and was set up to enable hospitality workers to engage with industry professionals worldwide.

The Blend is celebrating World Bartender Day with its new mentorship programme named The Blend Connects, which is hosted by industry experts.

Meimi Sanchez, senior brand manager at The Blend Global, said: “At The Blend, we live by our ethos of ‘By Hospitality, For Hospitality’ and this World Bartender Day we’re creating a collective moment of celebration for the immensely rewarding career of bartending, whilst investing in the future of the industry with the launch of The Blend Connects. Here’s to bartenders across the globe.”

The initiative will provide support for the next generation of industry bartenders through mentorships, one-to-one guidance, funding and advice.

Mentors include Vasilis Kyritsis, of The Clumsies bar in Greece; Leo Robitschek, of NoMad in the UK; Moe Aljaff, of Two Schmucks in Spain; and Carina Soto, of Candelaria in France. They will be hosting a ‘virtual cheers’ tomorrow at 12pm GMT, through The Blend’s Instagram account @TheBlendWorld.

The Blend is also promoting the hashtag #CheersToUs to mark World Bartender Day. The bartending community is being encouraged to share stories through the hashtag, and a virtual programme of events is taking place across 24 hours tomorrow through The Blend’s social media platforms. For example, Instagram live broadcasts will be taking place, discussing what it takes to succeed in the bartending profession.

The activity will be supported by virtual World Bartender Day celebrations from The Blend’s markets in the US, India, Germany, New Zealand and Australia.

Applications for The Blend Connects open on 24 February, and close on 10 March 2022. More information can be found at theblend.world.
