Vinexposium cancels Hong Kong fair
Trade show organiser Vinexposium has cancelled its Hong Kong fair this year to focus on its China event, which is due to take place in Shenzhen for the first time.
After being postponed several times since 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the next Vinexpo Hong Kong show was due to take place in May 2022.
However, organiser Vinexposium said it would cancel the fair to focus on Vinexpo China, which will take place in Shenzhen from 31 October to 2 November.
Vinexposium said it had strategically selected Shenzhen because it was one of the key cities in the Greater Bay Area of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao, a crucial economic region for southern China.
Vinexpo China will be held in the same location as food and drink exhibition SIAL, at the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center.
Vinexpo China will also host an additional joint event with SIAL next year in Shanghai, which will focus on consumer regions in northern China.
In December 2021, Vinexposium held its first show in India, which took place concurrently with SIAL in New Delhi.
“The synergy between Vinexposium and SIAL was tried and tested last year at Vinexpo India in New Delhi,” said Rodolphe Lameyse, CEO of Vinexposium.
“Our alliance works extremely well in Southeast Asia due to quality attendance which covers the complementary segments that are wines, spirits and food products. This offers genuine benefits for our customers who we take to meet new buyers in attractive growth markets.”
Vinexpo India is also planning to offer a second event, co-located with SIAL, in Mumbai from 10 to 12 May 2022. Vinexposium said Mumbai was a key city on the country’s west coast.
The Vinexpo India show in New Delhi will run from 8 to 10 December this year.
Earlier this month, Vinexposium confirmed Wine Paris and Vinexpo Paris will take place as planned from 14 to 16 February.
Following the Paris show, the inaugural Vinexpo America and Drinks America fairs are scheduled to be held in New York City on 9 to 10 March.
