Lux Row Distillers plans $4m expansion
By Nicola CarruthersKentucky-based Lux Row Distillers will embark on a US$4 million expansion this month, which will increase its annual production capacity by 75%.
The Bardstown-based distillery, home to the Ezra Brooks, Rebel, Davies County, David Nicholson and Blood Oath Bourbon brands, is expected to complete its expansion in late 2022.
Once complete, the expansion will allow the producer to operate 24 hours a day and distil more than 50,000 barrels of whiskey every year.
Opened in 2018, the 18,000-square-foot site currently has 10 barrel warehouses and a 43-foot custom copper still.
“Lux Row Distillers broke ground nearly six years ago as a result of our company’s desire to grow our brands and service our needs on our terms,” said master distiller John Rempe.
“Expansion of our facilities represents the next chapter in our evolution as we continue to fill the growing demand for our products. I’m truly excited to see what possibilities open up when [the] expansion is completed.”
The distillery will remain fully operational during the construction process, and tours will not be affected, the company said.
Lux Row Distillers is owned by Luxco, which was merged with third-party producer MGP following a US$475m acquisition in April 2021.
In September this year, Luxco rebranded its 174-year-old Lawrenceburg, Indiana, production facility to Ross & Squibb Distillery.
