Código 1530 launches 13-year-old Cognac-finished Tequila

Independently owned brand Código 1530 has released a 13-year-old extra añejo Tequila finished in Cognac casks, priced at US$3,300 per bottle.

Just 350 bottles of Código 1530’s 13-year-old expression have been made

Código claims the bottling is one of the oldest and most expensive Tequilas in the world.

To create the expression, the brand’s extra añejo is placed in Cognac barrels for a further six months.

Ron Snyder, Código co-founder and co-CEO, said: “We decided to produce a 13 year because our Extra Añejo just keeps getting better and better over time… so we’ve kept some resting longer than typically done, out of curiosity.”

The Tequila is said to deliver notes of sweet vanilla, cocoa powder and cinnamon, with peat and spices on the mid-palate and a ‘long-lasting’ finish.

It comes in a crystal glass bottle packaged in a laser-etched wooden box that is handcrafted in Amatitán, Mexico. The box has a clear front sliding door to display the expression. Just 350 bottles have been produced.

Código 1530 Extra Añejo 13 is now available to buy on codigo1530.com and at specialist retailers.
