Catoctin Creek launches Rabble Rouser in UK
By Alice BrookerVirginia-based Catoctin Creek Distilling Company has released its Rabble Rouser whiskey in the UK.
The launch follows Catoctin Creek’s UK release of three Roundstone Rye whiskeys.
Scott Harris, the founder of the distillery, said: “Where Roundstone Rye is sort of restrained and elegant, Rabble Rouser is more unruly and vivacious.”
Catoctin Creek is based in Loudoun County in the north of Virginia, and produces whiskey, gin and brandy. The distillery’s latest expression to be launched in the UK is a single barrel rye whiskey, distilled at a lower ABV than the Roundstone Rye.
Aged for four years in Minnesota white oak barrels, the whiskey is bottled at 50% ABV and includes tasting notes of cherries and toasted marshmallows on the nose. The rye is said to provide hints of spice, as well as flavours of pepper, ash and caramel, stone fruits and nuts.
Consumers in the UK will be able to buy the whiskey from Native Spirits, The Whisky Exchange, Master of Malt and Southport Whisky, priced at RRP £99 (US$137) per 700ml bottle.
Earlier this year, Catoctin Creek spent US$1 million on new equipment to triple its production capacity.
In January 2017, Svedka Vodka owner Constellation Brands acquired a minority stake in Catoctin Creek.
